Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) collaborates with the Ministry of Agriculture to engage youth in agriculture, focusing on avocado farming through the “Jenga Kesho Iliyo Bora” program.

Job Responsibility
- Provide professional advice to farmers and stakeholders in the avocado value chain, including educating on best practices, monitoring quality, and ensuring adherence to farming standards.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports on avocado farming.
- Manage the distribution of farming inputs and oversee their use by farmers.
- Update the digital database of avocado farmers and stakeholders.
- Conduct training on safe pesticide use and best farming practices.
- Verify avocado quality at the Primary Cooperative Society level.
- Estimate raw avocado production based on tree capacity.
- Connect agricultural stakeholders with farmers.
- Assist in selecting lead farmers in collaboration with village leadership.
- Provide advice on other crops cultivated by farmers.
- Assess avocado production at the end of each season.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and requirement
- Tanzanian graduate with a diploma in agriculture.
- Age between 18 and 35 years.
- Honest, ethical, dedicated, and possess good interpersonal skills.
- Not currently employed or previously dismissed from public service.
- No criminal convictions.
- Willingness to work in rural areas.
- Able to work independently.
- Prepared to sign a performance-based contract for the season.
