Job Responsibilities:
- Installation and Maintenance:
- Install, maintain, and repair components of tobacco machinery and equipment.
- Perform routine mechanical inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure efficient and safe machine operation.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and repair or replace faulty components as necessary.
- Implement equipment modifications and improvements as directed by the plant engineer.
- Regularly lubricate plant machinery.
- Maintain machine center-line, including tracking conveyor belts and managing winnower and thresher speeds.
- Operate lathe and milling machines.
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks.
- Resolve motor, conveyor, and hydraulic issues.
- Erect scaffolding and perform tasks at height.
- Inspect and maintain shakers, fans, gearboxes, classifiers, and dryers.
- Sharpen baskets and install gutters.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols and regulations during mechanical work, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Conduct safety inspections and suggest improvements to reduce hazards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Craft Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Plant/Production Option) – KNEC.
- 2 – 3 years of experience in a similar role.
