Responsibilities

  • Define and review maintenance inspection philosophy.
  • Establish contact, processes, and audit plans according to standards and local requirements.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of the inspection team.
  • Establish inspection services contracts required for the EACOP inspection plan.
  • Coordinate inspection entities in Tanzania and Uganda.
  • Analyze and optimize the efficiency of inspection activities.
  • Review management of change requests.
  • Select and review risk-based inspection tools for EACOP assets.
  • Ensure registers for lifting, flexible operations, and temporary repairs are up to date.
  • Ensure welding qualifications and materials for pipeline emergency repairs are current.
  • Act as the focal point for inspection and corrosion exchange.
  • Review inspection programs and participate in technical audits.
  • Manage team and resources effectively.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanics or Materials Engineering (or equivalent) with an emphasis on mechanics, materials, metallurgy, and corrosion.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas process equipment, technology, and pipelines.
  • Familiarity with international codes, standards, and regulations related to inspection disciplines (ASME, API, NACE).
  • Understanding of materials, metallurgy, welding, corrosion, failure modes, and inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge of risk-based inspection methodology.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance and inspection management systems.
  • Proficiency in fitness for service assessment methods.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in inspection-related activities in the oil and gas industry or similar fields.
  • Experience in full field shutdown inspection scope preparation and follow-up.
  • ERB registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English is an added advantage.
