Position Summary

IHI is looking for a qualified Research Nurse/Assistant Nursing Officer to work at antenatal care clinics, collecting data on mothers and infants involved in the MMS-MAP study. This role is crucial for ensuring optimal care and accurate data collection for the trial.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in clinical research studies following research protocols, GCP, and SOPs.
  • Ensure the protection, rights, safety, and well-being of study participants.
  • Responsible for recruiting participants.
  • Conduct anthropometric measurements.
  • Collect blood and other specimens, acting as a liaison with the laboratory.
  • Provide counseling on psychosocial and nutritional issues.
  • Maintain participant privacy and confidentiality.
  • Accurately fill out study-related forms and enter data daily according to SOPs.
  • Communicate regularly with other study staff and actively participate in meetings.
  • Foster appropriate working relationships between hospital staff and IHI.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor or Principal Investigator.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A 4-year certificate or Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution, registered with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
  • Prior experience in clinical research and antenatal clinics is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient in using a laptop for data collection for the MMS-MAP study.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team; possesses strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
