Relationship Manager, Agribusiness & Co-operative Banking – Lake Zone, Southern Highland Zone, Southern Zone

To manage the cooperative and agriculture portfolio while ensuring the quality of agronomical practices and promoting Coop Bank’s products and services to cooperative and agriculture-related customers and their value chains.

Job Summary

Education: First degree in Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness, Business Administration, Banking and Finance or equivalent. A Master’s Degree is an advantage.
Experience: 5 years or more in banking with experience in agribusiness or cooperatives.
Working Hours: Full-time

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify areas and economic activities for the Bank to enhance financial inclusion and inclusive finance.
  • Monitor and evaluate agronomical practices, implementing solutions to improve productivity and sustainability.
  • Conduct field inspections of smallholder farmers financed by the Bank, reporting on potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collect field data and perform baseline analysis for research, providing advice to the Head of Business & Co-operative Banking regarding markets, products, and services in agribusiness.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings within the areas of jurisdiction.
  • Gather insights on scheme portfolio performance related to inputs procurement, applications, seasonal trends, harvesting, and delivery to warehouses.
  • Facilitate communication between Branches and Head Office teams regarding agriculture value chains involving smallholder farmers, groups, cooperatives, and companies.
  • Conduct field visits and verification of scheme finances, preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on Agri-scheme businesses and their value chain linkages.
  • Provide professional advisory services to customers and stakeholders regarding the Bank’s products and services.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in banking, particularly in agribusiness or cooperatives.

Knowledge Required:

  • Comprehensive understanding of sales tactics, operations, business management, relationship management, and customer service competencies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask and deliver results.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and business acumen.
  • Analytical and presentation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines with limited supervision.

  • Proficiency with financial/banking software and technology.
  • Basic skills in MS Word and Excel.
