Job Responsibilities
- Participate in training for data collection to understand programs, research protocols, and ethical requirements.
- Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of collected data.
- Follow informed consent and child safeguarding protocols before interviews.
- Collaborate with program teams to engage communities for interviews and discussions.
- Conduct structured interviews using pre-developed questionnaires.
- Accurately record and submit data daily as directed by the MEAL Team Lead.
- Maintain effective communication and teamwork with the MEAL team and other enumerators.
- Care for data collection equipment and report technical issues promptly.
- Provide updates on field progress and challenges to key staff.
- Participate in data quality checks after collection.
- Ensure daily reporting on data collection progress is maintained.
- Utilize data collection software on tablets/smartphones.
- Facilitate qualitative interviews and focus group discussions.
- Ensure forms are complete and accurate post-collection.
- Transcribe information gathered from interviews and discussions accurately.
- Review and edit collected data for errors daily.
- Travel to assigned communities and adapt to field conditions.
- Uphold Trocaire’s values regarding safeguarding and accountability.
- Maintain good relations with Trocaire, its employees, and program participants.
- Adhere to professional boundaries and ethical standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, environmental science, climate change, agriculture, statistics, development studies, or related fields.
- Experience in field research using participatory approaches.
- Experience in data collection for monitoring and evaluation.
- Prior experience in interviewing and facilitating focus group discussions.
- Familiarity with digital data collection tools and devices.
- Knowledge of climate change, agriculture, and women’s empowerment is a plus.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English, both spoken and written.
- Able to work in rural areas with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
