Job Responsibilities:
- File legal suits for accounts identified by or referred to legal from the Head of Credit Recovery, including gathering significant documents and managing case files.
- Prepare drafts of pleadings and comprehensive instructions for external lawyers regarding litigation involving the Bank.
- Manage the performance of external lawyers, including recommendations for appointments, terminations, and performance reviews.
- Work with Credit to minimize legal risks in recovery by establishing performance-based contracts with Debt Collectors and other support functions.
- Ensure timely issuance of demand and statutory notices after consulting with the Recovery department.
- Provide timely legal advice to business units and management on compliance and corporate governance issues.
- Review securities, contracts, and banking documents regularly, especially when cases are referred for legal recovery.
- Identify key legal risks and propose mitigation strategies to support KCBT’s business objectives.
- Manage litigation fees and associated costs effectively.
- Represent the Bank in Court, Tribunals, and other legal forums.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) – Required
- Professional Qualifications: Advocate of High Court – Required
- Master’s Degree: Laws/Business Administration/Banking – Added Advantage
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience – Required
