As we already discussed earlier in this article about the Kazi Mtaani program,
So, here I’ll walk you through the correct steps to successfully join this program for the 2025/2026 financial year.
Unlike previous years, when applications were submitted by filling out a special pdf form downloaded online, this year the process is different. Everything has been simplified and Kazi mtaani applications are now submitted directly through an online government system via the CRSP website.
So, if you’re looking for PDF forms to apply then you are wrong, it’s best you visit that website. I’ll guide you step-by-step on how to use it to send your application.
Requirements for Applicants:
Before getting into the system or continuing with this topic, you should know that this program provides temporary jobs offered by the Kenyan government. It’s mainly targeted at unemployed youth aged between 18 and 35 years. Unlike most jobs, this one does not require higher education like a university degree, only a few criteria must be met.
- Citizenship:
This is the first and foremost important requirement. You must be a Kenyan citizen living in Kenya (not abroad). You’ll need an official ID to prove your citizenship, either a National ID or a Voter’s Card. The opportunity is not current availble for guests in kenya who have a valid visa but only indigeneous Kenyan citizen.
So, If you don’t have any of these ID due to reasons like loss or damage, or you’ve never had one, you must visit your local county office to get a letter of identification, then take it to the Department of Immigration Services (DIS) to get a temporary ID letter.
- Place of Residence:
Although the program covers all of Kenya and aims to support youth in environmental projects, it’s specifically designed for youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those affected by COVID-19.
To qualify, you must be a resident of one of the 46 listed counties. If you live in Nairobi, you’re not allowed to apply unless your official residence is in one of those 46 counties.
- You must not be employed:
This is a full-time program running throughout the financial year.
If you’re employed either by the government or a private sector, or even if you run a business, you are not eligible. The reasons are:
- You likely won’t have enough time to fully participate (as the work takes 9–12 hours daily).
- The program is designed to support unemployed youth by helping them build capital and self-employment skills.
- Work ethic and commitment:
You must be willing to work hard and show dedication.
This program is not just about earning money, it also contributes to national goals, especially related to climate change and environmental protection.
So, you must take the work seriously and understand that your efforts benefit both you and future generations.
- Only one applicant per household:
If more than one person in your family wants to join, only one person with the right qualifications can apply.
This is to give more people a chance because the number of slots is limited and the budget is capped at Ksh 5 billion.
Registration Steps:
There are only a few steps. To avoid being scammed, don’t share your account information with anyone if your application is successful.
If you’re unable to apply after following these steps, contact CRSP directly using the phone numbers or email address listed on their official website.
You’ll need a phone with internet access and an active phone number registered with M-Pesa.
Then follow these steps:
- Go to the official CRSP portal
This is the only approved site for applications: https://crsp.go.ke — double-check the address before doing anything to avoid scams.
Start your application by clicking the registration button. There are four simple steps:
- Step : Enter your personal info (full name, phone number, date of birth), then click “Next.”
- Step : Answer whether you have a national ID. If yes, enter your ID number and serial number. Also, select your county. Be careful here — choosing the wrong one may get your application rejected or assigned to a county you can’t reach.
- Step : Click “Next” and choose the type of work you’re applying for from the listed options. Mention any past experience with the program. If you want to be a group leader, say yes under experience if you’ve participated before.
- Step : Upload the required documents — a photo of your national ID and education certificates. You’ll also be asked a few questions about your education. Fill everything correctly, then hit Submit.
Once done, your application is complete. Keep your phone active so you can receive updates.
If your application is rejected, you won’t receive a response. In that case, prepare to apply again in the next round.
