Job Summary

Education Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Pharmacy, or related fields
Experience Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative data collection methods
Working Hours Estimated total of 17 days (including training and field activities)

Job Responsibilities

The research assistants will:

  1. Participate in training sessions to understand mapping objectives, tools, and methodologies.
  2. Revise and translate data collection instruments in Kiswahili and English.
  3. Develop a schedule for data collection in designated study areas.
  4. Coordinate and schedule meetings with focal persons at various levels and collect data through Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and document reviews.
  5. Accurately record data using the provided tools.
  6. Ensure adherence to ethical standards and informed consent processes.
  7. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of data collected.
  8. Support clarification and follow-up on data points as needed.
  9. Participate in team meetings and collaborative activities.
  10. Identify potential obstacles to timely task completion and communicate challenges that cannot be resolved independently.
  11. Maintain accurate records of meetings and research activities.
  12. Ensure regular communication with team leads and other members.
  13. Ensure the safety and security of project materials and personnel during activity execution.
  14. Show respect for everyone during and after project execution.
  15. Perform additional tasks as requested by team leads.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Pharmacy, or related fields.
  • Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative data collection methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Kiswahili and English.
  • Ability to travel within assigned regions and work independently.
  • Understanding of Tanzania’s service delivery and leadership at various levels.
  • Familiarity with health systems or supply chain concepts is an added advantage.
