Lake Victoria Drowning Prevention Project: Consultant job vacancy
The Lake Victoria Drowning Prevention Project (LVDPP) aims to enhance water safety and reduce drowning risks for fishing communities in the Mara, Mwanza, and Kagera regions of Tanzania. The project is implemented by EMEDO and funded by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Job Responsibility
The consultant will conduct an accessibility study to evaluate the inclusivity of the LVDPP for people with disabilities (PWDs). Responsibilities include performing a gap analysis, identifying barriers to participation, and providing recommendations to enhance project programming for PWDs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in disability inclusion research, particularly in accessibility assessments
- Strong understanding of the intersectionality of gender and disability
- Previous experience with fishing or rural communities in East Africa
- Proficiency in both Swahili and English, written and spoken
- Experience with qualitative research methods, especially participatory approaches
- Familiarity with local disability rights frameworks in Tanzania
- Ability to produce high-quality, accessible research reports
- Experience with donor-funded projects under international and local NGOs
