Responsibilities
- Mentoring and training the fleet maintenance team to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Developing and managing maintenance strategies to achieve operational objectives, focusing on high equipment availability and reliability.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and community standards and procedures.
- Determining preventative maintenance and repair requirements for the mobile equipment fleet.
- Implementing and reviewing equipment strategies, including quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of results.
- Preparing long-term training programs for mechanical maintenance personnel to stay updated on technical upgrades.
- Facilitating continuous improvement in mobile equipment maintenance organization, workshop tools, work procedures, and spare parts inventory.
- Preparing and controlling budgets during repair and maintenance activities.
- Developing the local workforce.
- Supervising contracted equipment maintenance supervisors, maintenance personnel, warehouse supervisors, and maintenance planning departments.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
- Appropriate trade certification is mandatory.
- Experience with production machines including various models from SANDVIK and other manufacturers.
- Strong commitment to safety and zero-harm principles.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships.
- High ethical standards and professional conduct.
