Responsibilities

  • Mentoring and training the fleet maintenance team to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Developing and managing maintenance strategies to achieve operational objectives, focusing on high equipment availability and reliability.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and community standards and procedures.
  • Determining preventative maintenance and repair requirements for the mobile equipment fleet.
  • Implementing and reviewing equipment strategies, including quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of results.
  • Preparing long-term training programs for mechanical maintenance personnel to stay updated on technical upgrades.
  • Facilitating continuous improvement in mobile equipment maintenance organization, workshop tools, work procedures, and spare parts inventory.
  • Preparing and controlling budgets during repair and maintenance activities.
  • Developing the local workforce.
  • Supervising contracted equipment maintenance supervisors, maintenance personnel, warehouse supervisors, and maintenance planning departments.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Appropriate trade certification is mandatory.
  • Experience with production machines including various models from SANDVIK and other manufacturers.
  • Strong commitment to safety and zero-harm principles.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships.
  • High ethical standards and professional conduct.
