Job Summary

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
Experience: Minimum of three years in construction or engineering projects
Working Hours: Full-time

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
  • Work with the project team to establish and manage budgets, monitoring expenses to prevent overruns.
  • Evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating contract terms and preparing BOQ and technical proposals.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and assess completed work for payment verification.
  • Prepare payment claims and follow up on certificates and payments.
  • Administer contracts, documenting variations and claims.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering solutions.
  • Monitor project expenses against the budget and prepare cost reports for stakeholders.
  • Assess potential risks and manage change orders with the project team.
  • Maintain accurate records related to quantity surveying processes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders regarding cost-related matters.
  • Handle post-contract commercial activities, including final accounts and project close-out.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Professional accreditation or membership in a relevant quantity surveying institution (e.g., AQRB, TIQS).
  • At least three years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction or engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of quantity surveying practices, cost estimation, and contract administration.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software and industry-standard QS tools.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with construction regulations and relevant codes.
  • Understanding of construction methods and materials.
