Responsibilities
- Manage the intake, storage, and dispatch of fresh produce within the packhouse.
- Oversee inventory records, including stock levels of produce and input materials.
- Ensure proper arrangement and labeling of goods for traceability and accessibility.
- Conduct regular stock audits and coordinate with the data team for inventory accuracy.
- Implement and maintain robust inventory control procedures to prevent discrepancies.
- Track availability and consumption of input materials for daily operations.
- Coordinate procurement planning to avoid stock outs or overstocking.
- Ensure secure storage of all inputs, including cold chain materials and cleaning agents.
- Manage distribution of inputs to packhouse staff based on operational needs.
- Assess daily labor requirements and coordinate hiring and allocation of casual labor.
- Work with shift supervisors to ensure adequate staffing across packhouse sections.
- Monitor labor attendance and performance, ensuring proper supervision.
- Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards in labor processes.
- Maintain daily operational records, including labor reports and stock movement.
- Generate reports on inventory status and packhouse performance for audits.
- Address operational challenges and escalate issues affecting timelines or quality.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards in all operations.
- Support traceability systems through accurate labeling and documentation.
- Coordinate facility cleanliness and pest control measures.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
- Experience in packhouse management in a fresh produce environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Agriculture, Food Science, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of inventory systems and compliance standards.
- Ability to plan and supervise daily labor needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operational data accurately.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English; Kinyarwanda is a plus.
- Proficiency in stock tracking tools, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
